Weekend Long Concert Raises Awareness on Eco-Friendly Lifestyles
UW-Milwaukee students Ryan Pearson and Ryan Kamsler put together quite the lineup of entertainment for the weekend of April 18-19 in Concord, Wisconsin. Known as “Operation Adaptation”, this weekend-long concert hosts a wide variety of music.
Willy Porter, Chinese Fingertrap, and the Fat Maw Rooney are just three of the big names set to perform at the event. Mixing up funk, jam, jazz and rock, the eclectic sounds of the power lineup has already confirmed close to 300 guests from the Milwaukee area.
- “Willy plays rhythms that make me want to crawl inside his guitar and sleep there forever,” said singer-songwriter Tori Amos.
- “Chinese Fingertrap’s music has such an influence on the way the audience moves that they are simply puppeteers and the audience their puppets,” said disc jockey Nathan Coussens from KRUI Iowa City, Iowa.
- “Fat Maw Rooney is a vibrant, fresh, young jam band, revitalizing the soul with a positive vibe and thick beat that makes you move,” said Desert Rose Promotions.
Trees for the Future has also donated to the event so that for each ticket sold, which start at only $30, one tree will be planted. With many other ‘green’ activities yet to be announced, the event is sure to involve all those attending in the festivities.
With parking and camping both available on site, Operation Adaptation has even partnered with Milwaukee’s own Hunger Task Force in a food drive for free parking. Anyone who brings in eight or more cans of non-perishable food items will not have to pay to park.
Without fear of the cold, many guests have already pumped themselves up to pitch tents for the weekend. “Fires, plus altoids, plus booze, plus dancing equals warmth,” said Fox Valley Technical student Tanner Sitar.
